This beautiful vintage poster was advertising an exhibition of Indian art from the province of Odisha (formerly Orissa) at the The Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw, Poland, in 1984. The poster artist Cyprian Koscielniak (born 1948) is a distinguished Polish artist renowned for his exceptional poster designs. He honed his craft by studying Applied Graphics at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland, under the mentorship of the esteemed Henryk Tomaszewski. From 1984 to 1986, Koscielniak served as an assistant professor at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk, where he led the Graphic Design Studio, imparting his knowledge and expertise to aspiring artists. Since 1986, he has called Amsterdam home, where he continues to create captivating illustrations. His passion for teaching led him to serve as a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Groningen from 1986 to 1994 and at universities in The Hague and Utrecht from 1995 to 2016, inspiring countless students with his artistic insights. Koscielniak’s talent has garnered international acclaim, and his work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Der Spiegel and The New York Times, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the world of graphic design.
