The Conductor (Polish: Dyrygent) is a 1980 Polish drama film directed by Andrzej Wajda. It was entered into the 30th Berlin International Film Festival, where Andrzej Seweryn won the Silver Bear for Best Actor. It was also shown at the 1980 New York Film Festival. The poster artist, Edward Lutczyn (b. 1947), is known for his satirical drawings, caricatures, illustrations and posters, both aimed at children and adults. A graduate of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, he made his debut in 1971 with illustrations in “Szpilki” and the biweekly “Student” and “Echu Krakowa” publications. His work was published in many magazines, such as “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Playboy”, and “Reader´s Digest”. He was the author of two comics published in the “Relax” cartoon magazine in the early 1980s. Lutczyn also works on designing posters, postcards, and album covers, has illustrated over 130 books, and was many times winner of gold, silver and bronze medals.
