This film Stan Strachu (<\/strong>State of Fear, 1989) is a realistic account of the 1981 events in Poland during martial law. The plot takes place in a theater company and revolves around a mysterious briefcase (contents of which are never revealed). The set painter hands it over to the actor, who is then seized by the police. Submitted to the interrogation, he insists he knows nothing about it. He escapes from the police station and goes into hiding in an apartment occupied by a young girl with whom he falls in love. The actor is apprehended once again, jailed, to be released years later. Poster artist Andrzej Pagowski<\/strong> was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1953 and is an artist specializing in graphic design and poster art. P\u0105gowski graduated from The State University of Fine Arts in Poznan in 1978 and began to design posters, which has since become his main interest. In addition to posters, he designs theatrical settings, prints and catalogs. One of the younger artists of Polish School of Posters, in 1990 he created his own graphic studio, STUDIO P, which developed into an advertising agency in 1993 and continues in operation today. In 1992, he became art director of the Polish edition of Playboy<\/em> magazine..<\/sup> His work is characterized by a \u201cflick of the wrist\u201d style, including spontaneous, handwritten details and typography. His art can be found in many European museums as well as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)<\/em> in New York.
