A Masked Ball (Un ballo in maschera)<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is an 1859\u00a0opera<\/a>\u00a0in three acts by\u00a0Giuseppe Verdi<\/a>.\u00a0The plot concerns the assassination in 1792 of King\u00a0Gustav III of Sweden<\/a>,<\/sup> who was shot as the result of a political conspiracy while attending a masked ball<\/a>, dying of his wounds thirteen days later. The poster artist Jan Aleksiun<\/strong>\u00a0(b. 1940) is a graphic artist, painter, specializing in posters and drawings, and an academic teacher associated with\u00a0the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroc\u0142aw<\/a>, Poland,\u00a0and was its second\u00a0rector<\/a>\u00a0from 1980 to 1982. In 1990 he obtained the title\u00a0of professor<\/a> and between 1999 and 2005 he was\u00a0the dean\u00a0<\/a>of the Faculty of Graphics<\/a>. He took part in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad and was the winner of awards in posters, graphics and drawing, including the award of the Minister of Culture and Art in 1994.
