Wac\u0142aw Grubi\u0144ski<\/b> (1883-<\/a>1973<\/a>) was a Polish playwright and prose writer, columnist<\/a> and theater reviewer. He staged “Innocent Sinner” in 1925. In 1936, Grubinski was awarded the Golden\u00a0Laurel of\u00a0<\/a>the Polish Academy of Literature<\/a>. In 1940, he was arrested by the NKVD<\/a>\u00a0. As the author of\u00a0the comedy\u00a0<\/a>Lenin<\/i> , published in 1921, he was sentenced to death, which was commuted to 10 years\u00a0in a labor camp<\/a> . Later released, he was an employee of the Polish embassy in Kuibyshev<\/a>, then evacuated from the USSR<\/a> to the Middle East. He published his memoirs from the\u00a0Gulag\u00a0<\/a>concentration camps<\/a>\u00a0(\u00a0Between the Hammer and the Sickle<\/i> ) in London in 1948. Throughout his life, he was subject to censorship by the Communists governments.\u00a0 The poster artist Waldemar \u015awierzy<\/strong> (1931-2013) was a renowned Polish graphic designer and a pivotal figure in the Polish School of Posters. Born in Katowice, \u015awierzy graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krak\u00f3w in 1952.
