The Danton Case<\/em> (Sprawa Dantona<\/em>)<\/strong> is a 1929 historical play by Polish writer Stanis\u0142awa Przybyszewska, <\/strong>which portrays the fierce clash between revolutionary leaders Georges Danton and Maximilien Robespierre. Danton seeks compromise and an end to the bloodshed, while Robespierre demands unwavering purity of ideals \u2014 a conflict that seals Danton\u2019s tragic downfall during the Reign of Terror. The designer of this stunning poster, Roman Cieslewicz<\/strong> (1930\u20131996) was a Polish graphic artist and photographer who studied at Kracow Academy of Fine Arts from 1949 to 1955. In 1963, he moved to France and became a citizen there in 1971. He worked as art director of Vogue and Elle magazines, and taught at the Ecole Superieure d\u00b4Arts Graphiques in Paris. Cieslewicz was a founder of the famous “Polish School of Posters”. He had over 100 solo exhibitions of prints, photomontage works, posters and photographs in many countries.
